The European Network of Green Open Air Theatres was created in 2010 within the ‘Théâtre à Saint-Marcel’ association.
It became an independent association in 2018.
Dedicated to the preservation, promotion and animation of green open air theatres, unique places, combining performing arts and landscape.
Born of the observation that these elements of garden art were particularly neglected in France, the network strives to overcome this lack of awareness and to protect these fragile sites.
Its work focuses on several areas:
KNOWLEDGE
► Make an inventory of these figures of landscape and cultural heritage.
RAISING AWARENESS
► Disseminate information on current events concerning the green open air theatres.
► Produce scientific and prestige publications.
PRESERVING
► Restore/rehabilitate sites in danger.
PROVIDE IDEAS
► Encourage the creation of new green open air theatres.
EXCHANGE
► Develop an international network of associations of owners and managers of remarkable sites.
► Encourage the exchange and sharing of skills and benefit from the support of specialists involved in green open air theatres (architects, landscape architects, curators, art historians, artists, authors, directors, etc.)
LIVING
► Encouraging open-air artistic practice
► Organise shows within the network
► Propose initiatives to support distribution
